Weighing and Inspection Inspector

Job Description
A Weight & Inspection Inspector analyzes freight on a daily basis to ensure correct classifications and weights have been given by our customers. It is important to be fair and honest with every inspection. This position works both on the dock and in the office. In this fast paced environment emails must be checked and followed up on a regular basis. Throughout the day a W&I Inspector walks the dock, measures freight, and takes pictures etc. This occupation requires you to encourage the reweigh program to all dockworkers. Analyze results at the end of your shift and process the information onto our system.
Responsibilities
+ Process information through our AS400/SAP system database such as freight measurement and be able to use other software/programs to monitor freight.
+ Responsible for any and all correspondence (both written and verbal), related to the administration of the local Weight and Research program.
+ On a daily basis you must measure, reweigh, and verify classifications of freight to ensure correct billing takes place.
+ Goals are to increase revenue for the company and maintain a certain percentage of freight inspected at the service center.
+ Verification and application of correct NMFC classes and freight charges.
+ Maintain a positive image and ensure OD maintains a quality reputation.
+ Monitor emails throughout the day and follow up with customer or employees as needed.
+ Make sure employees are aware of the reweigh program and motivate them to meet our goals.
+ Strive for continuous improvement in all areas of service center operations.
+ Comprehends and ensures compliance with company and government regulations
Qualifications
+ High School Degree or equivalent.
+ Previous Experience
+ Previous experience in the trucking/logistics industry is preferred
+ Strong operational background and knowledge
+ Previous rating or inspection experience is a plus
+ Must be able to speak clearly and engage in active listening.
+ Willingness to learn, be fair and honest.
+ Understand industry terms and classifications and know how to work with tariffs.
+ Work efficient and effectively with computers. Knowledge using Excel and Word processing systems, file documents, and write proper and professional emails

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
